Mouse Igloo

This transparent tinted mouse igloo allows mice to control their microenvironment. Mouse igloos have proven to be beneficial not only in helping prevent boredom and aggressive behaviours but also to aid in breeding. These igloos were developped for the risk-free use and safety of laboratory mice.
Mouse Igloo
- Made from clear coloured polycarbonate (Red, Amber or Blue)
- Animal care personnel can view animals inside the igloo without disturbing them
- Red and amber (yellowish brown) colors reduce light seen by mice resulting in their feeling of being hidden
- May also be used for aquatics (blue version)
- Prevents boredom and agressive behaviour, aids breeding
- Provides opportunity for mice to perform species-specific behaviours such as the need to withdraw from light and seek refuge from more dominant cage mates
- Fits most standard cages

Transparent tinted mouse and rat tunnels are a remarkable innovation in enrichment for rodents. Other opaque materials such as PVC piping are widely used in mouse facilities, however, they are not transparent which restricts technicians from being able to see the rodents inside the tunnel during routine cage check.
