Rodents are nesting animals. When they are able to build nests, they are less affected by changes in their environment, such as sound, light, motion and temperature. Nests give a sense of security which results in animals that are less aggressive and easier to handle, with a reduction in cannibalism. The reduction in stress results in greater weight gain, healthier and happier animals that are better models for research.
Nestlets are the perfect nesting material; they promote shredding action which encourages natural activity and exercise in mice. They are soft and absorbent, retain warmth and are non-irritating even to newborns.
